 La Chambre du Roy René venne fondata a Como nel 1995 da Sergio Gatti, che volle riunire attorno ad un progetto comune le ricche esperienze di vari musicisti gravitanti nell’ area comasca. Unica eccezione fu (all’epoca) Lucio Paolo Testi, legnanese, da anni interessato al repertorio antico. Testi & Gatti, presenti ancora oggi nell’ensemble, posson esser quindi considerati i veri “soci” sostenitori del gruppo.

Delle varie proposte di studio messe allora in atto quella sugli strumenti a fiato antichi ben presto si dimostrò la più interessante , tanto da divenire in breve la vera ragione d’essere del gruppo. A questo periodo risalgono le importanti partecipazioni a festival internazionali come Addadanza ( due stagioni ). Questa fase si esaurì attorno al 2003: una rinnovata Chambre vide la luce nel 2007 ( in occasione del concerto di Pamparato ) con l’ingresso di nuovi musicisti e con un ampliamento delle proposte concertistiche. Doveroso qui ricordare la collaborazione con Vinicio Capossela per l'esecuzione concertistica dei sonetti Michelangioleschi da lui musicati. Anche questa fase è da considerarsi ora superata: l’insieme, pur non trascurando per nulla le esibizioni puramente concertistiche, si sta  infatti  sempre più specializzando nell’esecuzione del repertorio di accompagnamento delle danze antiche ed è in questa formazione ( aggregando talvolta strumenti & strumentisti anche della più tarda tradizione seicentesca ) che ormai sempre più spesso è chiamato ad esibirsi.

The Chambre du Roy Renè was founded in 1995 by Sergio Gatti with the aim of uniting in a single
project the rich experiences of various musicians working and living inthe Como area.
The only exception at the time was Lucio Paolo Testi from Legnano whose interest in renaissance music goes well back in time. Testi & Gatti, still present in the ensemble, can be considered the
founder members of the group. Of the various studies carried out that concerning wind instruments
soon revealed itself to be the most interesting, so much so that soon it became the group's main objective. Appearances at international festivals such as Addanza (two seasons) date to this period.
In 2003 the ensemble's activities were interrupted until 2007(venue at Pamparato) when a renewed ensemble incorporated different musicians and a new series of concerts. Recognition must be given here to Vinicio Capossela for execution of the Michelangioleschi sonnets orchestrated by him.
This period too has given way to a further evolution of the ensemble. Without neglecting its concert appearances, the ensemble is also focusing and developping its repertoire in the dances of the period. It is this formation, including instruments and musicians typical of the1600's, that appears and performs most frequently
